President

Dear Friends,

As an alumnus and the school's ninth-year President, I want to welcome you to Holy Ghost Prep. We are a community of faith and learning — driven by mission, focused on excellence, and defined by our Spiritan tradition.

Central to the mission of Holy Ghost Prep is our motto Cor Unum et Anima Una, which means, "One Heart and One Mind." We are a community dedicated to awakening and guiding the hearts of our students to become compassionate, caring, and faith-centered young men. At the same time, our commitment to the development of their minds is unparalleled. Critical thinking, intellectual curiosity and rigor, and the drive to be one’s best self are the hallmarks of the Holy Ghost Prep educated student.

The promise of Holy Ghost Prep is not simply education, but formation. Through formation, our students take basic information and translate it into knowledge. The interaction and engagement between student and teacher ensure that a commitment to excellence is nurtured and fed. In the classroom, on the ball field, during a debate — in all these realms we value and encourage the learning of life lessons that go hand-in-hand with hard work, challenges, and ultimately achievement.

Embracing the Catholic, Spiritan tradition of our founders, Holy Ghost Prep focuses on Gospel values as a way for each student to better understand his place in the world. For the past 125 years, the thoughts, words, and deeds of the Spiritan community have inspired and informed the decisions made within and beyond our campus. The school espouses and enables a concern for others, a commitment to the poor, and a global vision.

The legacy of Holy Ghost Prep is intertwined with the stories of students and alumni who share an “openness to the Spirit.” They ask difficult questions and work hard to find the answers. We succeed when what our students begin to understand at Holy Ghost prepares them to make a difference with their lives.

I invite you to explore our website, talk to our families, visit our school community, and experience for yourself what makes Holy Ghost Prep truly distinct.

In One Heart and One Mind,

Gregory J. Geruson '79
